Taiga Blues was started in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003 as a solo project by Carsten Mandt. In the second half of 2006, Carsten was joined by guitarist/trumpet player Michael Gallagher and bassist Tim Craig, a line up change that amongst other things has opened up possibilities to perform Taiga Blues material live.
The sound of Taiga Blues is predominantly instrumental and often cinematic in scope - focussed on exploring the evocative possibilities of seemingly simple structures and the tensions of blending the flow of live instrumentation with the rigour of programmed electronic sounds.
